TRIVIA HUNT - COPIED FROM THE OLD WIKI PAGE
HOW DO I PLAY?
Visit the multiplier events page on our main website. There you will find a list of currently active trivia events.
Click on one and it will bring up a teleport link in your Second Life viewer.
When you arrive you will start to hear questions being shouted into local chat. Make sure you are in range (preferably within 20 meters) and then say your answers into local chat.
Once you get a correct answer a security question will come up, asking you to complete some simple maths. Answer it before your competition does and you'll get a reward added to your Goldtokens Account. This can then be collected from any of our ATM machines once you have over 1L$ in your account!
HOW DO I GET PAID?
The fractional amounts get added up into your Goldtokens Account and as soon as you reach 1L$ or more you can claim your winnings. Just visit our headquarters, and click on our ATM machine
If you do not have an existing Goldtokens account before playing Trivia Hunt, your earnings data will not be registered with us . You MUST first create a Goldtokens account by collecting at least one of our coins from the Goldtokens Gold Hunt game or doing 2 fishing casts. Any denomination will work but the coin must be fully collected to create the account.
FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR TRIVIA HUNT EARNINGS
WHAT ARE MULTIPLIER EVENTS?
A multiplier event means the landowner has elected to pay multiples of the normal reward level. These events are more rewarding but also much more competitive. You can expect the most elite trivia buffs to be attending these events. If you're new it may be best to attend 1x events until you are more experienced!
ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS
There aren't many requirements except that answers are generally as short as possible. If you type a longer answer than is required it will generally find the correct answer within your answer. For example, if the correct answer was "Cold" and you answered "Cold War" then your answer would be counted as correct.
The only exceptions to this are for number answers (or questions containing numbers), which must be answered using digits. Single letter answers must also be answered precisely.
Note that getting the case right does not matter. The answer "PONY" is the same as "pony" and "PoNy". Plural answers such as "dogs" are generally reduced down to their singular form "dog". Finally, name answers generally only require the person's surname/family name to trigger a correct answer.
WHAT ARE CHAMPION POTS?
Whenever someone answers a question an additional +10% of what they were rewarded is added to the champion pot. At midnight every day the number of correct answers for each site is added up and a champion of each site is declared. They receive the entire champion pot for that day!
ARE THERE RANKINGS?
You can see how big the champion pots are and who won yesterdays' pots on the multiplier events page!
IS THERE A LIMIT TO PLAY TIMES
To prevent bots there is a limit of how many questions you can get paid for per hour per site. You will see this counting down in your correct answer messages. If you hit this limit you will no longer get paid, but you will still get a correct answer scored that contribute to your ranking! Please note it is 100% ok to stick about and keep answering if you hit your limit, you just won't get paid for them.
Touch the trivia ball and a special player menu will appear, giving you the following options to choose from:
Get Earnings (Tells you your current earnings and gives a SLURL to a Goldtokens ATM machine where you can withdraw your earnings)
Guide (Gives a link to this player guide)
Stats (Tells you your remaining budget total and some interesting stats)
Submit Trivia (Submit your own trivia questions and answers).
CONTRIBUTING QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Trivia Hunt is built by players. Anyone can submit a new question and answer at any time. To contribute just click on the trivia ball. You will see a text box pop up in which to put your suggested new question and answer. Separate your question and answer with an ampersand (&) symbol. Here are some examples of good text box entries: How many wheels does a motorbike have?&2 Which famous Indian led the legendary "Salt March"?&Gandhi
To stand the best chance of having your question accepted: Please keep your questions as short as possible and end them with a question mark. Do not use commas in your question or answer. Try to make your answers 1 word only. Use the best possible english you can. We can always re-phrase it though, so don't be worried if you're not a native english speaker. No offensive questions. No business or otherwise promotional questions.
Once submitted, questions will be reviewed and approved by Game Masters. A reward level will be assigned based on the perceived difficulty of the question (rewards can be adjusted later too). Please note it can take some time for a question to be approved. They are reviewed in first-come order basis.
